Gary is recognised globally as a thought leader and experienced advisor. He is well known for his involvement in the creation, development and deployment of ISACA's COBIT framework since its inception in 1992. A Computer Science graduate with 30 years experience in the IT industry, originally as a systems developer and project manager, he has applied IT in practice, audited its use as an internal and external auditor, and provided consulting advice.  He has held senior management positions in industry as well as with Deloitte & Touche, Arthur Andersen and also with one of the UK's leading IT security companies Zergo. He has consulted with a wide range of companies in the UK, South Africa and other parts of the world, and led several major IT security projects for the European Commission. He has also acted as Project Monitor to the UK Department of Energy.

Gary is retained as an advisor by Deloitte in South Africa and by ISACA for the development of COBIT and IT Governance guidance publications, and is the Architect of an extensive COBIT education portfolio for ITPreneurs.  He also coordinated the IT Governance Special Interest Group for the Impact Programme, one of the UK's leading forums for IT Directors and CIOs.

For more than 25 years, Gary has been an active member of ISACA, the world's leading organisation focused on IT Governance. He has been a board member and has held several leadership positions within Europe. He is a regular speaker at conferences and seminars, and provides training and mentoring to hundreds of individuals.
